American Kennel Club - The largest purebred dog registry in the United States, recognizing over 150 breeds. United Kennel Club - The second oldest and second largest purebred dog registry in the United States, recognizing over 300 breeds. UKC promotes the idea of the "total dog" - a working dog-human relationship. Check here for information on agility, conformation, weight pulling, hunt tests, and more.
Canadian Kennel Club - Recognizes over 160 purebred dog breeds. AKC-registered dogs and many of the UKC-registered dogs are eligible to compete also in Canada.
American Dog Owners Association - Defends the rights of responsible dog owners both to legislatures and in courts. Check here for Canine Defense Fund information.
AMBOR - American Mixed Breed Obedience Registration - Improves the opportunities for mixed-breed dogs and their handlers to compete in obedience. The first organization to offer titles for mixed-breeds, who are now eligible to enter UKC events.
USDAA - United States Dog Agility Association - Open to any dog, purebred or mixed-breed, which must be registered with USDAA. The dog would be eligible to compete when 18 months of age.
NADAC - North American Dog Agility Council - Open to any dog, purebred or mixed-breed, which must be registered with NADAC. The dog would be eligible to compete when 18 months of age.
North American Flyball Association - The first flyball tournament was held in 1983; the NAFA was formed in 1985, and now has over 300 member clubs and 7000 active registered dogs. Many teams run all four dogs through the relay course in less than 20 seconds!

Dog Events Online - Offers upcoming calendar information on agility shows (AKC, USDAA, and NADAC), and AKC obedience. Future plans are to include flyball, Frisbee, and more.

Emergency Dog Links - This page offers great advice on what to do for anything from an approaching tornado to your pup ingesting poison.
Orthopedic Foundation for Animals - Maintains databases on heritable diseases which impact animal health, and supports research on these and other diseases. Diseases include hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, congenital heart disease, and von Willebrand’s Disease.
Canine Eye Registry Foundation - Maintains a registry of purebred dogs that have been certified free of heritable eye disease. They also maintain a data base which is useful in researching trends in eye disease and breed susceptibility.
Whole Dog Journal - A monthly guide to natural dog care and training. Includes information on complementary therapies such as massage and acupuncture; tests, reviews, and evaluates products and food. Note - there is a fee to access their information.
Merck Veterinary Manual - An online version of the ‘Merck Veterinary Manual’. A great resource, but it does NOT substitute for professional health care for your pet. If you suspect a problem, please contact your veterinarian as soon as possible.
Lost and Found and Rescue
Missing Pet Partnership - Offers information on lost pet behavior, listings of pet detectives and search dog services, links to online volunteers who can provide tips and emotional support through email discussion lists.
Cats in the Bag - Offers general pet search tips, but is geared primarily for missing cats.
Lost Pet, Found Pet - Nice site which gives information for prevention and recovery of a missing pet. What to do when you find a stray (think 'lost pet')? They also offer free stuff, and a poster you can download to use if your pet goes missing.
Pets 911 - Offers services for homeless animals, information on pet overpopulation, pet-friendly renting, fostering, and lost and found pets. Their toll-free number is 1-888-738-7911.
